Sturgeon: 'I'm not telling people not to go to a pub or restaurant'

The first minister says she is not telling people "not to go to a pub or restaurant" - but to consider their actions when they do.

Nicola Sturgeon was speaking to Original 106, after an outbreak of coronavirus was linked to a bar in Aberdeen.

Ms Sturgeon said last week that people should consider whether a visit to the pub is necessary, amid a rise in cases among the 20-39 age group.

But those working in the hospitality industry say another closure of bars would see many of them shut down permanently, with jobs being lost.

Today the UK Government launched its Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which offers a discount to people eating in restaurants and cafes between Monday and Wednesday during August.

We asked the first minister that in light of this scheme, and her comments last week, whether people should be supporting hospitality firms - or staying away.

You can watch her response in the video above.
