 Here's YOUR chance to name a new Amey gritter working in North East Scotland!

Amey’s north east trunk road team is calling on the public to come up with a name for one of its brand new gritters which will be deployed on the network this winter.

Get involved and help us to name one of the 32-tonne, eight-wheeled vehicles – some of the largest in the UK - which work hard to keep trunk roads safe and clear each winter.

The winning name will be displayed on a gritter based at an Amey depot closest to the location of the winning entrant, so the winner should be able to spot their gritter out and about on roads closest to them!

 

The Gritter Name

 

The gritter name should be no more than four words or a maximum of 25 characters, including spaces. We would like you to come up with ideas for a name to suit the gritter!

 

 

How to enter:

• Share your suggested gritter name via the form below before 04/11/23. Remember to check that it is no more than 25 characters, including spaces.

 

• Along with your gritter name, please make sure to include your name (and name of parent or guardian if under 18 years of age), a contact phone number and email address.

 

• The best 5 names will be shortlisted by Amey’s north-east trunk road Network Management Contract (NMC).

 

• Vote for your favourite gritter name.

 

• The winning gritter name will be displayed on a vehicle from one of Amey’s North East depots, which we’ll do our best to arrange to be as close the winner’s location as possible!

Who is Amey NE NMC?

Amey delivers road maintenance services for Scotland’s North East Trunk Roads Network on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The North East trunk road network covers some of Scotland's major cities, including Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen, across nine different Scottish north east regions. The network covers 593km of trunk road, including 485 bridges and structures, such as the Friarton Bridge, carrying the M90 over the River Tay.

Amey’s services include maintenance of motorways and trunk roads, the design of road safety schemes, looking after bridges and structures, as well as inspections to ensure the routes remain safe and well maintained.

Amey also provide winter maintenance, carrying out salting and snow clearing, alongside gully cleaning, cyclic maintenance and the repair of motorway lighting and traffic signals.

 

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Below is the full list of Terms and Conditions relating to Amey’s Winter 2023/24 Name a Gritter competition.

 

1. The promoter is: Amey NE NMC whose registered office is at Caledonian House, West Kinfauns, Perth, PH2 7XZ.
2. The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom.
3. Entry to the competition must be made by a parent, guardian or teacher on behalf of a child, if the entrant is under 18.
4. There is no entry fee to enter this competition.
5. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
6. Multiple entries from participants will be accepted.
7. The gritter name should be no more than four words or a maximum of 25 characters, including spaces.
8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
9. The prize is as follows: the winning name displayed on an Amey vehicle. 
10. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.  The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
11. Short listed names will be chosen by a panel of judges from the Amey NE NMC team.
12. The closing date is midnight on 04 November 2023
13. The winner will be notified by email /telephone within 28 days of the closing date.
14. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
15. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
16. Amey shall have the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.
17.  The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by Scots law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Scotland.
18. The winner agrees to the use of their name in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK GDPR data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
19. Amey also reserves the right to cancel the competition if circumstances arise outside of its control.
20. Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
