Wedding photographer 'grateful' for Scottish Government fund

A north-east wedding photographer revealed she is thankful to the dedicated wedding fund introduced by Holyrood.

The wedding sector will be able to apply for a grant of up to £25,000 when the process opens tomorrow.

Earlier this week, the Scottish Government added a further £10million to the dedicated wedding fund for businesses involved in the industry who have been affected by Covid-19.

Liana Mitrea, who lives in Stonehaven, owns Firefly & Embers Photography and hasn't had steady bookings since the pandemic first hit in March 2020.

She tells us how difficult the last 10 months have been and what the fund will mean for her business moving forward.

The fund is open to all who works in the industry such as venues, caterers, photographers and entertainment such as bands and DJs.

The guidelines state at Level 4, no more than five people are allowed to mark the occasion while at Levels 1-3, there is a 20-person limit. At the lowest Level 0, no more than 50 are permitted.

The Scottish Wedding Industry Alliance, which was set up to give the industry a voice and to gain support during the pandemic, thanked Fiance Secretary Kate Forbes and the Scottish Government for the support scheme on social media.

Ms Forbes also announced her engagement on Monday.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: "I hope this support will provide some welcome help and reassurance to a sector that has found things particularly tough."
