Three weeks of disruption for drivers on A90 near Stonehaven

Drivers on the A90 near Stonehaven are being warned to expect three weeks of disruption as roadworks start this weekend.

Lane closures will be in place northbound and southbound from 6.30pm today (Friday June 18) as a contraflow system is put in place between the Briggs of Criggie and Meikle Fiddes.

It is to allow for £2.14 million worth of resurfacing work on the stretch between the Lampool and Kinneff junctions - and will run until the morning of Monday July 12.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s north-east representative, said: "This £2.14minvestment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A90 near Stonehaven, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

"Unfortunately, due to the scale and nature of the works we need to use contraflow traffic management for the safety of our teams and the travelling public. To limit the duration of the disruption the teams will be working around the clock to complete the project as quickly as possible.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination."
