St Fergus contractors secure collective bargaining agreement

Unite members have has signed a new collective bargaining agreement involving contractors based at the St Fergus Gas plant near Peterhead.

The agreement involves around 100 contractors employed by the Wood Group and Kaefer at the Ancala Midstream Scottish Area Gas Evacuation (SAGE) pipeline and terminal.

They provide maintenance and site support at the gas plant.

The collective bargaining agreement covers various groups of workers including scaffold inspectors and supervisors, riggers, forklift drivers, along with mechanical, production and electrical technicians. 

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The latest win for Unite ensures that all contractors based at the St Fergus gas plant are covered by collective bargaining agreements.

"This will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to secure better jobs, pay and conditions for hundreds of workers at the site.” 

Vic Fraser, Unite industrial officer said: “Unite is delighted to have delivered the goods because it will significantly help our ability to protect and enhance the wages of contractors across the whole site, and ensures that no group of workers get left behind.”
