Snow disruption sees more than 40 schools closed

Schools across the north-east are closed today due to the winter conditions.

School, at present, are only open at present for key workers due to the pandemic but 51 across Aberdeenshire have closed due to the snow. 

Several other schools' transport has also not been able to operate as normal. 

Online learning remains in place for pupils with the schools encouraging them to use the remote system. 

A Met Office yellow weather warning's been in place across the region for the past few days with it set to end just before midnight tomorrow. 

Meanwhile, motorists are being urged to drive with care as the wintry conditions continue. 

The A90 had been closed earlier by Traffic Scotland between Stonehaven and Cleanhill but is now back open with drivers being asked to approach with care. 

All primary routes in the north-east were treated earlier this morning. 

Stagecoach have also made several alterations to their services with some towns and roads not being able to be accessed. 

Reports overnight suggested there had been around 26cm of snow had fallen in Aboyne.
