Portsoy aiming for a blinder in top European filming location award

Portsoy is in the running for the European Film Commission’s Network Location Award for 2022.

The costal town’s harbour was taken back in time to the early 1900’s for Peaky Blinders’ season finale which was viewed by 3.7 million people.

It’s up against filming locations in Switzerland, Greece, Germany and Croatia, with voting closing on January 31.

Counsellor Mark Findlater has said Portsoy is the one to beat, with perfectly preserved picturesque architecture dating back to the 1700s.

The Aberdeenshire Film Office has welcomed many film crews over the years, as well as locals who have been accommodating to their town being transformed into a film set.
