A north-east business organisation says North Sea oil and gas firms have been paying more than £19 million per day in tax since the start of this year.
Research from Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce says the UK Treasury has brought in more than £1.7 billion from the sector in just 90 days.
According to Energy Voice, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has reportedly told Mumsnet "nothing is off the table" when it comes to a windfall tax on oil and gas businesses.
Earlier this year, he announced support for 28 million households across the UK, with around £9 billion pledged to help deal with the cost of living.
