North-east stays under level two restrictions for fifth week

The north-east is staying under level two coronavirus restrictions for a fifth consecutive week.

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have been in the middle tier since the system came into place on November 2.

The latest review applies for the period up to Friday December 4, with a further review set to take place in a week's time.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the news in the Scottish Parliament this afternoon, where she also said that no changes would apply to any other council area in Scotland, meaning Moray remains in level one and Angus in level three, and 11 council areas stay in level four.

Ms Sturgeon said there have been rises in case numbers in both Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, but these have been linked to specific outbreaks, and there is no need to put the region into a higher level - though they continue to monitor things.
