North-east cops recover wedding rings as pair face crime spree charges

Two men have appeared in court charged with carrying out a crime spree across the north-east.

Police were alerted after two cars were stolen from a property in Fettercairn on Wednesday.

Following a pursuit, they were found on Craigievar Terrace in Garthdee, and Hazeldean Court in Hazlehead.

Jordan Buchan, 21, and Jay Main, 20, were arrested - and also charged in connection with a number of other offences including housebreakings, sneak-in thefts and attempted thefts in Aberdeen and Tayside.

Buchan and Main appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday) where they faced several charges, and neither made any plea. Buchan has been released on bail, while Main has been remanded in custody.

Three wedding rings were among the items recovered by police as part of their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Scott McKay, of Aberdeen CID, said: "I am pleased that we were able to return the items to their owners, in particular the treasured wedding rings.

"These types of crimes can have a devastating impact on victims and their communities which is why tackling acquisitive crimes remains one of our top priorities.

"Please report any unusual or suspicious behaviour to police via 101, ideally at the time it occurs."
