Snow weather warning issued across north-east

Snow arriving from the north tomorrow could cause travel disruption into Thursday.

Another yellow weather warning of snow's been issued for the region which is in place from 6pm tomorrow until 2pm on Hogmanay.

Wintry weather conditions had closed the snow gates along the A939 at the Lecht earlier this morning.

The road was shut between Ballater to Nairn, which heads through Cock Bridge and Tomintoul, due to the adverse weather the north-east has experienced over the last week.

It came as the Met Office extended a snow and ice weather alert warning of showers, lying snow and freezing temperatures - it is in place until midnight.

NHS Grampian confirmed the emergency department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary are already reporting a number of ice-related injuries and are asking the public to "please take care when walking on untreated pavements and roads" and to "clear paths if possible".
