Motorcyclist who died on A96 named

A 34-year-old motorcyclist who died on the A96 following a collision with a car's been named.

Andrew Wright, from Elgin, died on Sunday on the Aberdeen to Inverness route on the Alves to Forres stretch. 

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8:40am. 

Mr Wright, however, was pronounced dead at the scene with the female driver of the car taken to Dr Gray's hospital for treatment for minor injuries. 

Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the motorcyclist at this very sad time.

“I would urge anyone who saw either vehicle shortly prior to the collision, particularly on the A96 between Elgin and Forres, who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage, to contact us.”

The road remained closed until 8pm on Sunday evening to allow an investigation to take place.
