Man's body found in water on edge of Aberdeen

Police say a man's body has been found in the water on the edge of Aberdeen.

At around 12.30pm yesterday, the body was found in the water in the Gregness area of Cove, according to officers.

Although formal identification has still to take place, the family of 24-year-old Umar Khan has been informed.

The Press and Journal reports that Khan has links to England.

Police Scotland aren't treating the death as suspicious, with a report to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A statement from the force said: "Around 12.30pm on Thursday, 1 September, 2022, the body of a man was found in the water in the Gregness area of Cove, Aberdeen.

"Formal identification has still to take place but the family of Umar Khan, 24, has been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
