Man jailed for sexual offences in the north east

A 38-year-old man's been jailed for 9 years for sexual offences in the north east.

Euan Kirkwood committed the offences, including the rape of a woman, in March 2021.

He was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh to seven years with a further two years extended sentence, and given a 99 year Non-Harassment Order in respect of his victim.

Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo, of the Domestic Abuse Task Force, said: "Kirkwood will now face the consequences of his despicable actions. "We treat all reports of sexual crime seriously and I would urge anyone who has been a victim to come forward, no matter how much time has passed, and report it to police. "Be assured we will fully investigate, and you will be supported by police and our partner agencies.” Anyone with any concerns or information can report them to police by calling 101 or calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
