Man dies in A947 crash

A 40-year-old man has died following a crash on the A947 south of Newmachar.

The incident took place around 8 o'clock this morning involving a white Citroen DS3 and a blue Seat Leon.

Emergency services were in attendance and the driver of the Citroen was taken to Aberdeen's Royal Infirmary, where he later died. The driver of the Seat was also taken to hospital with a minor injury.

The road was closed for crash investigation work and has since been reopened.

Sergeant Peter Henderson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died, as well as all those involved in this incident.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone with information that can assist.

“In particular, if you have dash-cam that could help with our investigation then please get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 0650 of Thursday, 9 May, 2024.”
