Live Life Aberdeen seeks input on how to best use Stonehaven leisure facilities

Live Life Aberdeen (LLA) is seeking input from people about how best to use leisure facilities in Stonehaven.

It comes as parents and pupils of Mackie Academy have begun undertaking plans on how best to develop sports in the seaside town.

LLA is looking for groups and organisations to participate in the process. The community will then have the chance to vote on the best proposals submitted by organisations.

Funding for the project is in addition to the upcoming LLA investment in Stonehaven’s leisure centre and open air swimming pool.

Anne Stirling, chair of the council’s communities committee, said: "Participatory budgeting can offer communities a real say in how money is spent for the benefit of their local area and I’m please we’re able to offer this opportunity in Stonehaven.

"In due course local communities will be asked for their views on what sport, leisure and community facilities in the area should look like in future and we are very keen to get as many people’s views as possible throughout the process.

"As we move towards recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic it will be more important than ever to work closely with our community partners to build back better and this is just one of the ways in which we can bring decision making closer to communities.”"

Projects from the process are expected to begin the development stage later in 2021.
