A fundraiser to help those affected by Storm Babet in Brechin has already raised most of its £10 thousand pounds target.

John Morrison, who lives in the Angus town, set up the fund in order to help residents "rebuild their lives" in the aftermath of Storm Babet.

So far, it's raised almost £7000, with many from out with the area donating to the cause.

Residents are helping out one another to gain essentials such as food and water as well as heat and clothing.

Mr Morrison said: "The whole community has come together, it's not just down to one person.

"You have the local charity the Brechin Buccaneers, we have all the volunteers up at the community centre who are sorting through clothes and making sure people are fed and watered.

"It really is a whole community effort."

Brechin was battered by rising river levels and saw unprecedented levels of flooding while it was under a red 'danger to life' warning.

Cars were submerged and homes had to be evacuated with door-to-door rescues taking place on Friday morning.

Roads out of the town are partially still under water.

The aim of any funds raised is to go to those who have been directly impacted and will be passed to a local charity, such as the Buccaneers, or Angus Council.
