EasyJet to reinstate Aberdeen to Manchester service from next month

EasyJet have confirmed the will resume the flight service between Aberdeen and Manchester from next month.

The flight was originally pulled from Aberdeen International Airport after a travel ban was put in place between Scotland and Greater Manchester.

It was due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the region - the ban has now been removed by the Scottish Government.

North-east MSP Liam Kerr had previously written to the airline urging them to rethink their decision to cancel the service as it's an important route for both regions.

Regarding the reinstatement he said: “I’m relieved EasyJet has shown faith in the north-east by reinstating its Manchester service when it could have easily pulled the plug.

“This is a positive step to normality for both Aberdeen Airport and its passengers who will now be able to enjoy the route from next month. But this is a reminder that the aviation and tourism industry can’t be turned off and on.

“I hope the confidence shown towards Aberdeen can now be mirrored among operators internationally so we can get the airport flying high again.”

The airline confirmed it is scheduled to restart on August 6th.
