Divers returning to River Don in search for pensioner

Hazel Nairn.

A group of volunteer divers will resume the search for 71-year-old Hazel Nairn in the river Don one year after she was swept away.

Hazel Nairn disappeared near Monymusk when the riverbank burst, and her family say they have not given up hope that they will find her.

Beneath the Surface, who are picking up the search for Hazel, have asked people near the river to keep an eye out for items of Hazel’s clothing.

They include a khaki green jacket, a pink jumper, blue leggings and navy and tartan wellies.

In a post on their Facebook page, Below the Surface said "The weather and flooding in recent weeks has hampered our search efforts in Scotland, however this weekend we are hoping to be able to return to Monymusk, Aberdeenshire to conduct further searches for Hazel Nairn.

"Saturday 18th November will be 1 year to the day that tragically Hazel was swept into the River Don during flooding.

"Our thoughts are with Hazel's family at this difficult time and they have requested privacy this weekend."
