Concern over 'small but steady' rise of Covid-19 cases in Inverurie

Health bosses in Grampian say they are concerned about a "small but steady" rise in coronavirus cases in the Inverurie area.

Ten cases were recorded in Aberdeenshire yesterday - double that of Aberdeen - while none were registered in Moray, which is under level three coronavirus restrictions.

Testing capacity is now being ramped up.

A statement from NHS Grampian said: "There would seem to be a small but steady increase in positive Covid cases around Inverurie.

"We all want to nip this in the bud now. One in three people with Covid-19 don't show any symptoms, which is why widespread community testing is so important.

"This is for you if you live, work or spend time in and around Inverurie, Kintore, Kemnay, in fact anywhere in the Garioch area. A mobile testing unit is now available at Gordon House, Inverurie. You can book an appointment here for a test, whether you have symptoms or not.

"To book, please use this link and select the option: 'I've been told to get a test by my local council, health protection team or healthcare professional'.

"If for any reason you cannot access a test online, please call the NHS Grampian testing team on 01224 558494."

Moray missed out on moving to level two restrictions today along with most of the rest of the country, after concern over an outbreak there.

However the region has not recorded any new cases in each of the last two days.

Original 106 understands that the incident management team dealing with that outbreak will meet to discuss the latest position tomorrow.
