The UK has recorded its coldest night since 1995 - after the mercury dipped 23 degrees below freezing in Aberdeenshire.
The Met Office says -23C was recorded in Braemar this morning.
It was also the coldest February night since the 1950s.
It caps one of the most severe winters in recent years in the north-east - with several days of heavy snowfall now followed by plunging temperatures.
Meteorologists tweeted the news this morning:

That includes the infamous winter of 1962/1963 ❄️

According to the latest forecast, the temperature in Braemar will climb to -3C by early afternoon - but will quickly fall to -15C by 6pm - though with cloud moving in overnight, it will be a relatively mild -6C at times.
The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for the north-east running until midday tomorrow, with some further snowfall expected to hit the region tonight and tomorrow morning.
