Belmont Cinema to screen Christmas movie night at Aberdeen University

Belmont Cinema are preparing to host a night of festive warmth as they show a Christmas classic.

The campaign to save Aberdeen's independent cinema will screen the popular 'It's A Wonderful Life' at Aberdeen University on Tuesday December 20.

It will take place at the MacRobert Building in room MR051 starting at 7pm.

The Belmont Filmhouse had to close its doors on October 6 after its parent company, the Centre for Moving Image, collapsed into administration.

However, they are not letting this dampen their Christmas cheer.

Former manager and campaign advisor Dallas King said: "For many of us, it simply wasn't Christmas without a trip to the Belmont to watch It's A Wonderful Life.

"The Save the Belmont Cinema campaign wanted to keep that tradition alive and bring a bit of festive cheer to the holiday season.

"Through our campaign and events like this, we're keeping the curated, cultural offerings the Belmont provided alive until such a time as the cinema reopens."

In the past, the picture house scheduled the film on Christmas Eve, so they have tried to keep the showing as close to December 24 as possible.

The campaign also thanked Aberdeen University's School of Language, Literature, Musical and Visual Culture for supporting them in making the event happen.

The event is free and anyone hoping to attend should book their ticket beforehand here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/save-the-belmont-screening-of-its-a-wonderful-life-tickets-482704531247
