Aberdeen's forthcoming third Cruyff Court to be named after Dons legend

Aberdeen's forthcoming third Cruyff Court is to be named after Dons legend Willie Miller.

He has visited the site in Tillydrone where the facility is being located.

It will open next spring, within the same year of the 40th anniversary of the club's most famous success.

Miller captained the Dons to a 2-1 win against Real Madrid in the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup Final.

That major achievement remains the last time a Scottish club won a European trophy.

Meanwhile, once the facility is open, it will put Aberdeen on par with London in having three Cruyff Courts within the UK.

The facility will provide an artificial sports and activity area, basketball and dodgeball courts.

There will also be mini-tennis courts as well as a running track.

The facility is thanks to an ongoing successful partnership including Aberdeen City Council, Denis Law Legacy Trust and The Cruyff Foundation.

A key role has been played by the Trust in bringing the courts to the Granite City.
