Aberdeen can have capacity crowds as council approves application

Aberdeen Football Club will be allowed around 19,000 fans inside Pittodrie from next week.

The local authority's council approved the club's latest application for increased attendances.

Gatherings of more than 5,000 people will still require permission from councils under Scottish Government rules.

From Monday large scale events are allowed to return with the legal requirement of physical distancing lifted.

Face coverings are still required in crowded spaces.

The Dons may not be able to have a full stadium for their next leg against Breidablik in the Europa Conference League as UEFA require a larger "red zone" for substitutes and team officials.

However, it's possible for the ground to be full for their next home game on August 28th against Ross County.

Chairman Dave Cormack confirmed yesterday they had applied for full capacity for the rest of the reason and was hopeful of a positive decision.
