Two New Councillors Elected For Aberdeenshire

Friday November 6th 2015 at 12:04 PM

Winning candidates shake hands following the confirmation of the vote.

The votes have been counted, and two new members have been elected to Aberdeenshire Council for Huntly, Strathbogie and Howe of Alford.

The Scottish Conservatives’ Margo Stewart and the SNP’s Gwyneth Petrie will now both take seats at the local authority.

It’s a loss for the Lib Dems, but a gain for the Tories, whose candidate received the most votes, and a hold for the SNP.

The by-election was prompted by the death of former Councillor Joanna Strathdee and the resignation of Councillor Alastair Ross due to health problems.
