What is the snow report text service for?
This service is designed for parents of school kids in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire region. By submitting your mobile phone number to our database along with what school you're interested in receiving updates for, we will send you a text message to your mobile in the morning whenever that school is closed due to snow.
How much does this service cost?
Each text message received costs 25p. In theory you could receive up to 3 messagers per day per school. A message for partial closures, transport closures and full closures. It is quite common for a full closure to be announced early on and only 1 message will be sent. The profit from each message (9p on Vodafone, Orange and O2 and 7p on Three and Virgin) will be split between 2 charities, CLIC Sargent and the Archie Foundation. Original 106 make no profit from this service.
When will you send text messages?
We will send text messages in the morning once, as the school closures are announced. This usually happens any time beween 6.30 and 8.30am. If a school closes during the day (after 9am) then we will not send you a text message.
I signed up to your service but never received a message
Due to the nature of mobile phone networks, it is possible your message got delayed while sending. While this is very rare, it does occasionally happen.
I never received a confirmation message
It is possible that your message went missing in the mobile network. Please try signing up again. If you continue not to receive a confirmation message then it is possible your mobile phone provider is blocking premium text messages. This can be quite common on new contracts. Please contact your provider for more information. Please contact us (info@originalfm.com) and we will try and help you.
Can I subscribe to more than one school?
Yes - you can sign up to as many schools as you want. Simply text the different sign up codes for each school you wish to subscribe to.
How do I remove my number from the database?
Unsubscribing from the service couldn't be easier. Simply text STOP to 84555 and your number will be removed from all the schools you are subscribed to.
What will you use my mobile number for?
Your number will only be used for the snow text service and nothing else. Don't worry about us selling your number on.
My child attends a school/nursery not listed
We believe we have covered all schools and nurseries in the region. If you know of one that's not listed, please email
info@originalfm.com and we will add it to the list.
