A search has been launched to find a first-year Golden eagle which was seen flying in Aberdeenshire with what appears to be a trap attached to its leg.

The Golden eagle was spotted in Aberdeenshire last week with what appears to be a trap on its leg.

The bird was spotted on Thursday, August 8, by a tourist in Crathie in Deeside and there are serious concerns for the its welfare.

Police are carrying out enquiries alongside animal welfare agencies including the RSPB.

Sergeant Kim Wood said: “We would encourage anyone who has information which could help to locate this eagle to contact the Police on 101 or another relevant authority as soon as possible.
