1. What is the Public File?

Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK media regulator.

The Public File contains details of elements Ofcom regulate over, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for the community we serve.

The Public File is available as a print out on request. Any comments on the file can be made to us or Ofcom.

2. News Bulletins

We live in an age where people expect to be able to get news 24 hours a day. Original 106 is committed to delivering this expectation to listeners in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire when they need it - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Original 106 is committed to broadcasting a mixture of local, national and world news. There are also regular sport, entertainment and business updates. News bulletins are aired on the hour 24 hours a day. There aretwo extended news bulletins broadcast at 6am (10 minutes), and 5:30pm (15 minutes) on weekdays. All our bulletins are locally produced and presented. At all times our bulletins are a mixture of national and local news.

6. Automation & Local Programming

Sometimes it is necessary to pre-record (sometimes called Automation) programmes on the station. Wepre-record 6 hours weekdays. 6 hours on Saturdays and 5 hours on Sunday.

7. Coverage Highlights

Original 106 commenced broadcasting on 28th October 2007. It is our intention to support and cover local events and groups.

8. Music Playlist

Original 106 has a playlist which focuses more on music that people actually listen to. We play music from today and the last five decades. Our playlist embraces all eras and genres - in common with most people's music collection.

If you have any complaint about the radio station, for example, something you have heard - an advertisement or news story - in the first instance contact the station using the above details.
