News Bulletin Schedule

Original 106 is committed to broadcasting a mixture of local, national and world news, 24 hours a day 7 days week.

During the peak hours, 6-9am and 4-7pm Monday - Friday we provide news bulletins every 20 minutes with a full in depth 3 minute bulletin on the hour.

Out with these times, we have hourly bulletins lasting 3 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at evenings and overnight.

We have an extended sports desk at 9am, 1pm and 5pm and a business news update at 6pm.

At weekends  Original 106 continue to have hourly 3 minute bulletins between 7am and 2pm (including headlines at 7.30/8.30am and a sports desk at 9.30am) with 2 minute bulletins every hour from 3pm onwards.

All our bulletins are locally produced and presented.

Our news schedule will vary during the festive period.

Automation Hours & Local Programming

It is necessary at certain times to automate our programmes. This is where the presenter has pre recorded their links but is not necessarily  in the studio at the time the programme is broadcast.

We will pre record up to 7 hours a day, outwith daytime hours.

The non-stop music element of Original overnight is also automated.

All programming is produced locally.

Events/charities support or coverage

Original 106 carry daily "What's on Guides" which promote local events taking place, whether it be music gigs, art shows or charity fundraisers.  Listeners can submit their own events to our what's on guide.

Original 106 also have a nominated charity with which we do more on air related work with and help support and raise funds.

We change our nominated charity on an annual basis.

Recent programme and/or news highlights

Original 106 provide 24 hour news coverage to Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland.

Recent news highlights include Donald Trump wanting to open a golf resort in Balmedie and the local backlash surrounding it.  We followed Aberdeen Football Club as they went to Europe and we had a special documentary to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Piper Alpha Disaster.  

Other issues or areas of interest likely to impact on localness

There are no current issues that impact on the localness of the station.

The station's playlist (core tracks or specific output)
We have an adult alternative playlist. A mix of music from the last 5 decades along with more credible new music.
Artists we would typically play include David Bowie, Sheryl Crow, REM Oasis, Amy Macdonald and Travis.

The Station Format
An adult alternative station playing an album-led, credible mix of adult-orientated music, with particular appeal for 35-59 year-olds, with 24 hour news.
