Polish 44-year-old named as man who died after being found hurt in Tillydrone tower block

A man who died after being found seriously hurt in an Aberdeen high rise last week has been named by police.
A 59 year old man has been charged, accused of murdering Aleksander Smerdel.
The Polish 44-year-old died in hospital, after being found with suspected stab wounds in Donside Court in Tillydrone on Thursday, 27 December.
Detective Inspector Gary Winter, of the Major Investigation Team, said:”Mr Smerdel’s next of kin has been updated and our thoughts are with them.
“We are content that this has been a contained incident however if anyone has information they believe may assist the police they are urged to contact officers on 101 using reference number 0334 of 27 December”.
