Join the Original 106 news team
Original 106 has an exciting opportunity for a broadcast journalist to join our Aberdeen-based news team on a full-time permanent basis.
Working across news, programming, and our online services; you will be as comfortable coming forward with ideas for exclusives as you are reporting back from the scene of breaking stories.
You will be responsible for sourcing and presenting North-east news for Original 106’s 78,000 weekly listeners.
A role with room for progressive development, giving you the opportunity to cover the biggest stories happening across the North-east of Scotland.
Responsibilities will include newsgathering, writing copy, conducting interviews, editing audio, delivering live bulletins, and updating our online followers on the stories of the day.
You will be expected to report on a wide variety of topics including all things Brexit, local politics, North-east industry, crime, human interest and sport.
Our ideal candidate:
Has ideas for original, agenda-setting news.
Has a degree in journalism – or be able to display extensive experience/qualifications.
Will be a first-class writer who can make sense of a story quickly and tell it in an engaging way for our audience.
Thrives under the pressure of a busy newsroom.
Has a great voice and be able to deliver reports with authority.
Understands the importance of social media, and using our online presence to draw listeners towards their radios.
Possesses excellent networking skills to expand our contact database.
Has a sound knowledge of media law and broadcasting code.
Preferably has a full, clean UK driving licence.
Will be available for shift and weekend work.
