Snow gate closed on Cairn O’Mount road as Met Office issues snow and ice warning

Sunday March 10th 2019 at 10:38 AM

Forecasters are warning of snow and ice across the North-east through until Monday morning.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow for the whole region on Sunday.

The snow gates were closed on the Cairn O’Mount B974 on Sunday afternoon.

They warn some roads and railways will “likely be affected”, with longer journey times by road and rail.

Police closed the B974 between Banchory and Fettercairn on Sunday afternoon.

The yellow warning becomes one for snow and ice later in the day, prompting predictions of travel problems on Monday.

Forecasters again warn of issues on the roads and railways, as well as icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

The warning will be in place until 10am on Monday.
