Original 106 employs three full time journalists-

Alastair Gossip – head of news and sport:

Alastair has risen through the ranks of the Original 106 news team since joining as a freelance journalist in 2013. Growing up in the north-east, he graduated from Robert Gordon University with an honours degree in journalism.

In his time with Original 106, Alastair’s covered the merger of Police Scotland, the fatal Sumburgh helicopter crash, and the redevelopment of Aberdeen city centre.

Allister Thomas – senior journalist:

Born in Aberdeen, Allister graduated from RGU in 2014 with a first class Honours degree in Journalism.

During his time at university, he spent time working at a local press agency, getting bylines in Scotland’s national newspapers before pursuing his passion for broadcast and joining the Original 106 team.

He’s since covered events including the independence referendum and the ongoing controversy surrounding city’s Marischal Square development.

James Wyllie – journalist:

James Wyllie is a broadcast journalist who has lived in Aberdeen all his life.

After studying at Robert Gordon University, he freelanced for Original 106, while also covering Scotland-wide business news for a trade publication and contributing to Sky News’ coverage of the Scottish independence referendum.

He joined the radio station full-time at the beginning of 2015.
