Inverurie Residents Evacuated After River Don Burst Its Banks

Homes in Inverurie and Kintore were evacuated last night after the River Don burst its banks.
Residents of Inverurie’s Canal Raod were taken to a rest centre at the town’s academy.
Two elderly women were also evacuated from their homes in the area and taken to hospital by ambulance.
SEPA say water levels remain high on the rivers Don and Urie but are starting to recede for the River Dee.
Several road closures are in place due to the flooding:
B977 Fintray – Kintore
B974 Banchory – Fettercairn. Flooding on the low section of the B974 south of Strachan Bridge – NOW CLOSED BOTH SIDES.
A937 Laurencekirk – Montrose at Marykirk.
B976 Ballater – Banchory. Damage to Bridge at Inchmarnock Bridge locally known as Ballaterach Bridge. Road closed between B968 junction from Aboyne west to Ballater.
B976 between Dinnet Bridge and Aboyne Bridge.
B979 between Hatton of Fintray and Blackburn.
B993 between Inverurie and Whiterashes.
B9005 Methlick to Ellon at Methlick-Ythanbank.
