Email Pass Remember Me
So Young by Corrs

Martin Ingram

I’m a family man, I have a wife (Tina), and 2 children (Robert & Katherine). When I’m not on the radio, I like to spend time with my family either at home or out on lovely days-out.
I like to go to restaurants – I know, that sounds pretentious, but I’m talking about somewhere that does a nice prawn cocktail and a plate of steak and chips!

Which celebrity do you secretly fancy, (but you know you shouldn’t)
Kim and Aggie? No. I have sometimes looked at the bespectacled woman on that TV docu-soap about the double glazing company and thought that she was fanciable (under certain conditions..) But if I had to provide my proper answer to this question, it would be JK Rowling - no, not for her money!

If you could have written any song ever what would it be.
I would love to be able to say “Bridge Over Troubled Water? Oh yes, I wrote that. “ And the TOTAL genius thing would be that I’d have written that masterpiece at the age of four!

Perfect dinner date and what would be on the menu?
Never much good at dinner dates. Did that nonsense when I was in my early 20s, trying to imress the lady and all that, but just felt stressed! Chose too fancy a restaurant I think. Perfect dinner date? See above: steak & chips with the family.

Favourite on-air moment?
One of my favourite on air moments was with our very own Mr Neil Weightman. ( I am SUCH a sook!). We were broadcasting live from the Tall Ships second visit to Aberdeen in 1997, it was a warm summer night, Aberdeen was buzzing and we were there, right in the heart of it.

If you could change any part of your body what would it be?
Don’t get me started! This is where all my insecurities could be exposed. Ehm… let’s just narrow it down to one – or two. My legs. Can I have David Beckham’s please? God knows what he’d do with mine if it was a straight swap.

Favourite Venue?
I get rather nostalgic about the old Capitol Theatre in Aberdeen. I know that it played host to MANY world class acts over the years, and I have seen just a drop in that ocean play there, but I reckon it was a great mid-size venue, and was sad to see it close so suddenly.

Favourite ever gig?
Don’t know if this is my ABSOLUTE favourite, bit sticks in my mind as a darned good show. It was at said Capitol Theatre in 1993 – Squeeze complete with on/off Squeeze member Paul Carrack.

Which firework best describes you
Banger

Describe your best ever fancy dress.
Basque, stockings and sussies. Was I in fancy dress or just normal attire..?

What’s your first ever memory.
Being in my pram looking up into a dull Banff sky, then crying.

Favourite album of all time?
Sorry to sound like an old hippy – but I love “Tubular Bells” by Mike Oldfield.

Worst childhood misdemeanor?
The one I’ll never be allowed to forget is helping my dad take a coffee table into the house. I thought I was being efficient in transferring the load into the house by dragging the thing table-top down up a gravel path. I meant well….
