Cove Rangers have lodged plans to build a new stadium at Calder Park in Nigg.
The team has submitted a planning application detailing a 312-capacity football stand, all-weather 3G pitch, community facilities and 110 parking spaces.
The Highland League side are making the move from Allan Park, saying they’ve outgrown it and require a bigger home in order to comply with Scottish Football Association regulations.
In a report by architects Halliday Fraser Munro, it’s noted that the new academy planned for the adjacent site at Calder Park is proposing sports pitches and an indoor hall.
The author noted: “This provides an opportunity to tie the schemes together, delivering a hub of high quality leisure facilities for the local community. It is likely that the facilities proposed by Cove Rangers would be used by the academy.”
Meanwhile Barratt Homes have filed an application to build on the land at Allan Park.
The firm would like to construct a mix of 48 houses and flats, with associated car parking, at the Loirston Road site, and has asked for a change of use from a sports facility to residential development.
