Courage on the Catwalk

“Courage on the Catwalk” and “Brave” 2020,
proudly supported by Original 106 since the event’s inception in 2013.

These two events, a major fundraiser for Friends of Anchor will be on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th May 2020, celebrating the courage and bravery of north-east men and women who have faced a cancer diagnosis – past and present.

Brave
In 2017 Friends of ANCHOR introduced a new show exclusively for men and captures the strength of men who have faced the reality of a cancer diagnosis.

This year on the 7th and 8th of May, a line up of men from the North-east are set to take to the runway for the very first time and unite together for what will be two nights of real camaraderie to recognise what they have faced and overcome in their fight against cancer. The call is on now for willing “Brave” participants.

  • Friends of ANCHOR is seeking men over the age of 16 to apply for its Brave event
  • Brave is a catwalk show with a difference – all the men taking part have faced a cancer or haematology diagnosis – past or present
  • 24 men will be in the final line-up, with five weeks of fun rehearsals with your fellow models and professional clothes fittings to get you suited and booted
  • A chance to rebuild some of the confidence that can so often be stripped away with a diagnosis, and raise funds for a local cancer charity

Courage On The Catwalk

On the 9th & 10th of May, 24 women from the North-east will make their modelling debut at Courage on the Catwalk 2020.

Courage on the Catwalk is so much more than a fashion show. The event celebrates the sheer tenacity of women who have faced a cancer diagnosis- both past and present.

Funds raised at these events will directly support the new ANCHOR Centre, set to open in Aberdeen in 2021. The first of its kind in Scotland, the outpatient facility will bring oncology, haematology and blood disorder patients together in one location. Friends of ANCHOR’s fundraising target will provide vital funds over and above the £32m project cost, and will equip the building with a dedicated research suite and teaching facility and top-of-the-range fixtures and equipment, as well as new additions like a complimentary therapy room, a teenage and young adult room, patient information space and a coffee lounge area.

Check back here soon to hear from some of the models taking part this year, and their stories…
