Searches around the northern Aberdeenshire coast were being suspended after a mayday distress call early on Thursday afternoon.
The coastguard helicopter, and local teams from Macduff, Banff, Portsoy and Buckie were out searching, reportedly around Gardenstown.
RNLI lifeboats from Buckie and Macduff were also involved in efforts.
The short spoken distress call was received at 1pm.
