Charity appeals for help after sick dog dumped in the 'Shire

An elderly dog has had to be put down after it was found dumped on a country road near New Pitsligo.

The Scottish SPCA say the golden retreiver was almost completely bald, blind and suffering from cancer - leaving vets with no option but to put him to sleep.

The animal was found pacing the road at around 10-30 on Sunday morning - inspectors believe the condition the dog was in means he could not have strayed

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after an elderly dog was found dumped at a roadside in Aberdeenshire suffering from serious health problems.

A passerby contacted the animal welfare charity after finding the male golden retriever on a country road, known locally as the Brownhill Road, in New Pitsligo, near Fraserburgh on Sunday (2 August) at around 10.30am. His body was almost completely bald, he was blind and suffering from testicular cancer. His condition was so bad that the vet who examined him had no option but to put him to sleep.
