Hundreds of cleaners are to be hired to help in the battle against hospital infections, Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon will announce today.
The announcement will come at the SNP conference in Glasgow where Ms Sturgeon will tell activists the Scottish Government is giving health boards £5.4 million to employ 603 cleaning staff, a move which will also provide a jobs boost at a time of rising unemployment.
The party's spring conference comes less than two weeks after the SNP's 75th anniversary, and the anniversary will be the subject of the first debate.
