Aberdeenshire power cut forces school closed and leaves hundreds of homes in the dark

Thursday December 7th 2017 at 8:41 AM

Power cuts around Aboyne forced a primary school to delay its opening this morning, and left hundreds of homes disconnected.

More than 300 homes and businesses were cut off this morning, with engineers estimating they could have it fixed by 10:30am.

By 9:20am, only 13 customers were still without power.

The outage forced Logie Coldstone School to keep its doors closed until 10am.

Across Aberdeenshire as Storm Caroline picks up, Portlethen Academy, Methlick School and Ordiquhill School were closed.

The Met Office predicts the northern Aberdeenshire coast will be the worst-affected part of our area, with winds of up to 90 mph forecast.

Gales could reach between 70 and 80 mph elsewhere in the North East though.

The storm has badly affected transport links too, with more disruption expected right through until midnight.
