A90 to close all weekend at Ellon for resurfacing work

A section of the A90 is to close over the weekend to allow for resurfacing work near Ellon.
The A90 will close at 7.30pm on Friday, and reopen by 6.30am on Monday, for the £350,000 work between the Ellon A90 roundabout and the Auchmacoy roundabout.
Drivers will be sent on a two-mile diversion through the town instead, which Bear Scotland estimates will add around six minutes to journeys.
The full closure is needed to ensure the safety of both workers and road users during the improvements, the contractor says.
Northbound traffic will be sent on to the South Road, Bridge Street, Golf Road and A948 bypass; while southbound traffic will be diverted via Castle Road and South Road, where they can rejoin the A90 and resume their journey.
BEAR Scotland’s Andy Thompson said: “These works have been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A90 for motorists.
“The road closure is necessary to keep everyone safe during the improvements, however we’ve planned this scheme to take place over one full weekend to limit the overall impact to road users.
“Our teams will do all they can to minimise disruption and complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We thank motorists for their patience while we complete these works and encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
