Nearly 60 North-east jobs could be lost at Aberdeen-based Stena Drilling.
The firm’s Managing Director Erik Ronsburg confirmed it is consulting on 450 offshore roles, currently based on drill ships in Gran Canaria.
He said that roughly 57 of those workers live in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, but added the firm is working to minimise any redundancies.
It’s being carried out due to a surplus of workers.
Mr Ronsburg added: “That’s not necessarily the number that would be cut, there is potential for work coming up.
“We have to legally inform each worker that they are at risk and that is a tough thing to do.”
